Just Fontaine si è ritirato a 28 anni, aveva segnato 13 gol in un Mondiale nel 1958 ed era stato record per lui e per la Nazionale Francese. Allo Stade de Reims ha subito una frattura dalla quale non ha mai recuperato e per questo ha deciso di smettere per sempre col calcio.
